SW1X Audio Design™ DAC III Special Performance Level 3 D to A Converter

 

Re-experience the legendary classic TDA1541 DAC powered by valves at its full glory, re-incarnated by SW1X Audio Design™.

The Special version is a further refinement of the SW1X DAC III and a smaller brother to the DHT powered DAC IV. The main improvement over the STD version is in larger spatial presentation, more natural harmonics and dynamic realism, which is provided by even more powerful Super HiB C-core choke loaded EL84/EL86 power pentode (triode connected) tube output stage driven by the mighty 6N6P double triode.

Super HiB transformer de-coupled Balanced version and the limited production Signature version of the DAC III is available on request.

SW1X Audio Design™ DAC III Special Features:

  • Specially selected and harmonically matched component & material quality Performance level 3/4
  • NOS (Non oversampling –zero digital domain filtering) design
  • Based on 1 x TDA1541 – the most analogue sounding DAC ever made directly connected to a SPDIF receiver
  • Dynamic Element Matching (DEM) of the TDA1541 is powered by an asynchronous E180F valve clock with EAA91 valve rectified power supply
  • Passive I/V conversion via a single specially selected resistor with the shortest signal path directly connected to the tube grid
  • Discrete Germanium transistor based shunt voltage regulated power supplies for the TDA1541 & SPDIF receiver
  • Anode follower, zero feedback, 1 x double triode 6N6P driver to the Super HiB choke loaded 2 x EL86 power pentode (triode connected) SE valve output stage
  • Output stage and interstage signal decoupling capacitor are Audio Note Copper Foil in Oil capacitors
  • 5R4 directly heated or GZ34 (5C4M) tube rectified CLC (choke filtered) power supply
  • Circuit is wired with of a specially selected copper (single strand or Litz)
  • Supports up to 24Bit/96kHz (optional up to 192kHz or up to 48 kHz only) digital coaxial S/PDIF signal input (USB input is optional, see in options below)
  • 3 x 110/115/230/240V AC mains transformers (HiB double C-core available as an option)

 

Optional Extras:

a) Black Gate capacitors around TDA1541 and/or in selected places of power supplies

b) Audio Note 2W silver, non-magnetic, tantalum resistors in the I/V conversion

c) Audio Note 2W copper, non- magnetic, tantalum film resistors on plates, cathodes, power supplies and I/V conversion

d) Audio Note Silver Foil capacitors in inter-stage and ouput stage signal decoupling option

e) Additional choke filtering on the DEM clock tube PSU for the TDA1541

f) Circuit is normally wired with specially selected copper but can be ordered with fine silver wiring (including power inlet)

g) Super HiB double C-Core filtering chokes in the power supplies

h) 2 x HiB double C-Core mains transformers for the TDA1541 and EL86/6N6P tube tube output stage

i) TDA1541A S1 and S2 (single and double crown) versions are available on request
